SPRINGFIELD, Mass. (WWLP) – Springfield’s Open Pantry hopes to avoid a volunteer shortage for their Easter Sunday dinner for the homeless. The Open Pantry needs dozens of volunteers to serve hundreds of Easter Sunday dinners tomorrow at Springfield’s High School of Commerce cafeteria.
As of Friday, Open Pantry director Allison Maynard only had seven volunteers signed up. She is urging past volunteers to come to the high school by 11:30 Sunday morning.
Maynard said the Open Pantry has enough drivers to deliver Easter Sunday dinner to shut-ins in the Springfield area. Those interested in helping may call the Pantry at (413) 737-5337.
