The practice of forgiveness

(Mass Appeal) – Forgiveness is perhaps one of the more challenging things to do, especially when the harm done to you or someone you love is severe, it can be very hard to forgive. However holding on to long term resentment can have a negative impact on your life. Dr. Rob Robinson, Clinical Director of Family Care Counseling Associates in Wilbraham shared ways to forgive.

The “REACH” Method for Practicing Forgiveness
Step 1. (R) Recall the event
Step 2. (E) Empathize with the person who hurt you
Step 3. (A) Altruistic gift of forgiveness
Step 4. (C) Commit yourself to the process of forgiveness
Step 5. (H) Hold on to forgiveness
