Man shot multiple times, Holyoke police looking for suspects

HOLYOKE, Mass. (WWLP) – A 27-year-old man is at Baystate Medical Center in stable condition, following an afternoon shooting at a Holyoke alleyway that police say has been a trouble spot for them.

Police Lt. Jim Albert told 22News that shortly after 1:00 police found the victim lying in an alleyway near Oak and Essex Streets, suffering from multiple gunshot wounds. Albert said that the man’s injuries were “significant,” but he is in stable condition at Baystate Medical Center.

Albert said that though the shooting happened during the middle of the day in an area near several apartment buildings, police have been able to gather very little information from possible witnesses.

All they have right now is a report of a man in a black jacket running out of the alley following the shooting. He described the victim as a 27 year-old Hispanic man, who is a city resident.

Albert told 22News that the location is well known to Holyoke police, who have spent a lot of time tracking drug and gang activity in that area.

If you have any information on the shooting, you are asked to call Holyoke Police at 413-536-6431.
