SPRINGFIELD, Mass. (WWLP) – The Springfield Police Department hosted their kick-off fundraiser Thursday night for the annual Ride to Remember.
Luxe Burger in Springfield donated 15% of Thursday nights profit to this year’s 3rd Ride-to-Remember. The first ride to remember was when Springfield police officer Kevin Ambrose and Westfield Police officer Jose Torres’ names were added to the law enforcement memorial in Boston. Both were killed in the line of duty in 2012.
22News spoke with Springfield police commissioner John Barbieri about paying tribute to the fallen officers. “It brings brothers and sisters together from all over the law enforcement field for a good cause and a healthy activity.” said, Barbieri.
The 106 mile bike ride goes from Springfield to the state house in Boston.
