State budget, Olympics, & I-91 discussed at Legislative Luncheon

Holyoke Mayor Morse was interested in local aid

HOLYOKE, Mass. (WWLP) – It was the Annual Legislative Luncheon of the Greater Holyoke and Greater Easthampton Chambers of Commerce. The event was held at the Log Cabin in Holyoke and Massachusetts House Speaker Robert DeLeo and Senate President Stanley Rosenberg spoke.

The intent was to provide the area business community with information on the Commonwealth’s budget, working with a new Governor’s administration, Olympics 2024, and transportation issues relative to roads, rails and Interstate 91.

Holyoke Mayor Alex Morse said he was happy to see state lawmakers so he could talk about the current agenda of his community. “Obviously as Mayor I’m interested in local aid. So what is our local aid number going to be, chapter 70 education aid, charter school reimbursement, school transportation, and obviously the homeless issue is recurring in Holyoke and other communities,” said Mayor Morse.

Both House Speaker DeLeo and Senate President Rosenberg emphasized the importance of economic unity across the state.
