11 taken to hospital after Connecticut school bus crash

Students not believed to be seriously hurt

WETHERSFIELD, Conn. (WTNH) — Almost a dozen children were sent to area hospitals after a school bus crashed into a parked car in Wethersfield, Connecticut Thursday morning.

Seven ambulances were dispatched to what officials are calling a “mass casualty incident” in the area of 52 Prospect Street. Police tell News 8 the bus crashed into a parked Jeep.

A total of eleven students, who are 7 and 8-years-old, have been taken to area hospitals. The children are expected to be okay and were sent more for precautionary reasons. Conditions on other three involved unknown.

Officials confirmed to our Connecticut sister station WTNH via phone:

  • 1 patient was sent to Hartford Hospital
  • 1 patient was sent to Saint Francis Hospital
  • 2 patients were sent to Middlesex Hospital
  • 7 patients were sent to Connecticut Children’s Medical Center.
