SPRINGFIELD, Mass. (WWLP) – Springfield police say that they had to go over fences while chasing a suspected drug dealer, before they finally found him hiding underneath a porch.

Police Sgt. John Delaney told 22News that some 488 bags of heroin were found inside the 19 Foster Street home of 23 year-old Geovanie Guzman, who was arrested Tuesday evening.

According to Delaney, detectives had received information that Guzman was dealing large amounts of heroin from his house. They received a warrant to search the place, and waited outside to see him leave to make a delivery.

A short time after the got there, Delaney says police witnessed Guzman leave the house, and the officers went to make their arrest. When Guzman spotted the police, he started running. A detective chased him down Clifton Avenue, scaling fences along the way, before finding Guzman underneath a home’s porch. The suspect struggled, Delaney says, but police managed to get him into custody.

Detectives then searched his home, where they allegedly discovered the hundreds of bags of heroin stamped “Buggati,” as well as $895 in cash, drug packaging materials, and paraphernalia.

Guzman is being charged with distribution of heroin, possession of heroin with intent to distribute, and resisting arrest.
