The civic responsibility event had dual goals of empowering parents and helping children. Workshops ranged from making your vote count, to recycling, to improving the place where we all live.
Linnette Camacho of the Springfield Parent Academy told 22News, “One of the workshops that we offer tonight (Wednesday) is your role in developing a safer neighborhood. I think individually we have the responsibility to learn how we can play an active role in that process.”
That workshop was presented by the Sheriff’s department.
This is the Springfield Parent Academy’s fourth family event so far in 2015. They provided a light meal and free on-site childcare. Also, every participant received a free, three-day membership to the JCC.
