Spring cleanup is underway after a harsh winter

DPW's have been busy lately filling potholes and putting roads signs

SPRINGFIELD, Mass. (WWLP) – It was a long harsh winter but the snow is finally melting away. Now that the weather is getting nicer the spring cleanup is underway.

The snow is melting away and now we’re seeing what was underneath it. Everything from litter to hubcaps. There is also plenty of sand on the sides of the roads.

In some cases the snow was even hiding spots where the ground had given way. People have also noticed some damage to their property.

Lisa Kelly of Longmeadow, told 22News “A lot of broken stuff and we have a fenced in yard so we have dogs playing and we’re finding all sorts of leftovers, so yeah a lot of branches down and brick work on our house everything’s taken a hit.”

In Chicopee this Wednesday morning the weather allowed for MASS DOT to put back up a highway sign at the entrance of 391 that was knocked down over the winter.

DPW’s have been busy lately filling potholes and putting roads signs back up.
