Report: Coffee lowers cancer risk from alcohol

People who drank one or two cups of coffee per day had slightly lower risk of getting liver cancer

CHICOPEE, Mass. (WWLP) – The American Institute for Cancer Research found 3 drinks a day increase your risk of liver cancer.

This is the first review to quantify how many drinks it takes to raise the risk. But coffee can actually reduce that risk.

People who drank only one or two cups of coffee per day had a slightly lower risk of getting the disease compared to non-drinkers.

Researchers say if Americans stayed at a healthy weight and avoided alcohol, liver cancer in the U.S. would be reduced by 30 percent. That’s nearly 11,000 cases a year.
