Woman struck by train in Pittsfield, expected to survive

Police say the woman is still alive, but seriously injured.

PITTSFIELD, Mass. (WWLP) – A Berkshire County woman who was struck by a train Thursday night is expected to survive.

Pittsfield Police Lt. Jeffrey Bradford told 22News a woman in her 30’s was hit by the train around 8:45 Thursday night.

He said when police found her, she had severe injuries to one of her legs, and a head injury, but she was awake.

Police are there trying to figure out exactly what happened. The woman was rushed to Berkshire Medical Center.

Bradford said CSX Transportation operates the railroad and train service.

Operations were temporarily suspended but resumed early Friday morning.
