SPRINGFIELD, Mass. (WWLP) – Bags of heroin and cocaine, all packaged for sale, plus $1,000 in cash were taken when Springfield police arrested a suspected drug dealer Wednesday afternoon.

Springfield Police Sgt. John Delaney told 22News that Antonio Marin, 21, of Springfield, is facing multiple drug charges following his arrest.

Delaney says that officers set up surveillance in the area of School and Union Streets, which has been a high-crime area. The police running the surveillance saw Marin, the target of their investigation, get into a car and drive to the front of 23 Avon Place. They made their arrest as the suspect was allegedly about to make a drug deal with a woman approaching the car.

According to Delaney, officers seized a total of 21 bags of heroin and cocaine, some of which was powder cocaine and some of which was crack cocaine.
