Red Rose reaffirms its commitment to the South End

SPRINGFIELD, Mass. (WWLP) – Proving not everyone has a price, Red Rose co-owner Antonio Caputo reaffirmed on Thursday that Red Rose Pizzeria is not going anywhere.  “We’ve been here for 51 years, we love our customers, we love our location, we love our staff, we really just want to squash those rumors.  There’s no selling information, there’s no moving, we’re here to stay,” said Caputo.

Red Rose is located on Main Street in Springfield’s South End, abutting MGM Springfield’s property.  Caputo told 22News he’s received more calls and texts from friends about the potential of selling the business in the past few days than he has throughout the entire casino process in Springfield.  He calls them all rumors.

Caputo says there’s not a dollar amount that could make them sell, “It really isn’t about money it’s about my mom starting this business and with my father and my sisters and I, Rita and Carmella taking over and now our children are in the business. It’s something we’d like to continue into the next generation. This restaurant business is a labor of love it’s really not about money.”

Caputo is concerned about his customers during the construction period for MGM and the elevated portion of I-91, “Just be patient with the construction be patient with the traffic, we appreciate them making the extra effort to get to us we love our customers and we’re going to be there for them we just want them to get coming.”
