Worcester officer charged with domestic violence

Joseph Vigliotti is a 13-year member of the department

WORCESTER, Mass. (AP) — A Worcester police officer charged with pushing and throwing an ex-girlfriend has been released on $500 bail after pleading not guilty to domestic assault charges.

The Telegram & Gazette reports that Officer Joseph Vigliotti was arraigned Monday following his arrest Sunday.

Authorities allege the 42-year-old Vigliotti, a 13-year member of the department, pushed, grabbed and “bodily threw” the woman during an argument. The woman had scratches and red marks on the back of her neck, legs and arms.

According to court documents, the couple had a yearlong relationship and had once lived together.

Vigliotti and his lawyer, Jaclyn Greenhalgh, refused to comment after the arraignment.

Vigliotti has been placed on paid administrative leave pending an internal investigation and the outcome of the court case.
