(WBAL) Five players on the women’s lacrosse team at the University of Maryland-Baltimore County have been suspended for a violation of team rules.
What allegedly got the women in trouble was a private group chat on social media that was made public. An anonymous source called it an extreme situation at UMBC, stating concern for the safety of freshman girls on the Retrievers lacrosse team.
Officials said the players were suspended indefinitely as of Wednesday and have not played in the last two games.
Coaches brought the issue to the attention of university staff, which promises the investigation will focus on the dynamics of the entire program.
