Springfield man broke into home and killed a dog

A veterinarian said the dog died from blunt trauma to the head

EASTHAMPTON, Mass. (WWLP) – Easthampton Police issued an arrest warrant for a man accused of breaking into a home on Loudville Road and killing a family pet back in September of 2014.

Police said the burglary was reported by the homeowners on September 2nd of last year. The homeowners told police that they noticed someone had broken in while they were away. When they went inside, the homeowners said they found their 12-year-old toy poodle, Hannah, dead at the bottom of their basement stairs.

The dog was looked at by a veterinarian, who said she died from blunt trauma to the head.

37-year-old Angel Villanueva of Springfield was charged with breaking and entering with intent to commit a felony, larceny over $250 from a person 60-years or older and cruelty to animals.

Police told 22News that Villanueva is currently being held at the Hampshire County House of Corrections on unrelated charges.
