FERGUSON, Miss (NBC News) – Investigators in Ferguson, Missouri are still working to track down suspects after two police officers were shot during a protest early Thursday morning.
Investigators believe the shots came from a hill about 150 yards from the police station where the officers were hit, and where protesters gathered again Thursday night for a peaceful prayer vigil.
Both officers have been released from the hospital.
The attack came just hours after Ferguson Police Chief Tom Jackson resigned, the sixth city employee out of job in the wake of a Justice Department investigation that revealed wide-spread racial bias.
