CHICOPEE, Mass (WWLP) — Drivers who run away after getting into an accident are tough for police to locate.
22News was there quickly soon after a driver ran his car into the guardrail and flipped over while going South on Interstate 391 near exit 2 just before two o’clock Sunday morning.
In a follow up to the story, State Police Sgt Alan Joubert told 22News, the first thing state police do is check for the owner. But he said many times, the driver’s not the owner, and the person who may have let someone borrow his car isn’t very cooperative.
Some drivers who run away after an accident may have stolen the car or might be wanted for a crime.
