Albany N.Y. (Springfield Falcons) – Scott Munroe and the Springfield Falcons shutout the Albany Devils, 1-0, in a shootout this Sunday afternoon at the Times Union Center.

The win secures two points for the Falcons and moves the team to 33-23-7-0 on the season. Springfield also takes a 4-1-2-0 lead with one game remaining in the eight-game season series with Albany.

Falcons goaltender Munroe earned his first shutout with the Falcons, turning aside all 35 shots on goal and stopping the Devils on two shootout opportunities. Devils goaltender Scott Wedgewood made 33 saves during game play, but allowed two goals in the shootout. The Springfield penalty kill unit was successful in stopping all six Albany power plays. The Falcons were unable to convert on four man-advantages of their own.

After three scoreless periods and an extra frame, the Falcons went to a shootout for the first time since Jan. 3. T.J. Tynan shot first for the Falcons and beat Wedgewood five-hole. Munroe then made a glove save against Paul Thompson to give the Falcons a lead in the first round.

Sean Collins netted another goal for Springfield in the second round to put pressure on Albany. Mike Sislo missed wide on his turn and secured a 1-0 victory for the Falcons.
