SPRINGFIELD, Mass. (WWLP) – There’s a new Irish Elk in Springfield Saturday night.
Charlie Healey is 100% Irish and has been with the Springfield Elks for 26 years. He was voted in as Lodge 61’s Irish Elk of the Year. It’s a special award you can only receive once in your lifetime.
Healey told 22News it’s an honor, and great opportunity for him to give back. He said, “It always goes back to celebrating our heritage, but it also celebrates what the Elks is all about: being a charity and raising money to give it away to charities and local endeavors.”
Healey was honored during a dinner at the Elks Lodge Saturday night.
The money from this event, and others hosted by Lodge 61, goes toward helping the community and veterans.
