CHICOPEE, Mass. (WWLP) – Freezing rain showers have turned to mainly rain now that temperatures have climbed above freezing.
Raindrops started falling after 6am in the lower Pioneer Valley with temperatures in some of our cooler neighborhoods starting in the upper 20s or low 30s leading to some icy spots. Now that temperatures are above freezing in most areas bringing just plain rain for the rest of the day.
Rain should be fairly steady late morning through early evening creating ponding and puddling on the road. It’s a good reminder to make sure the storm drains near your home are clear from snow so that rain can drain away.
Overall we’re expecting between one and three quarters of an inch of rain today as high temperatures head to near 40 degrees.
Temperatures drop tonight with a slight chance for a few rain or snow showers.
We’ll have a better chance for some scattered rain or snow showers on Sunday with highs back to near 40 degrees.
We’re not expecting much accumulation, although there could be some areas that pick up a coating of snow on Sunday, mostly in Franklin County and the Berkshires.
