Longmeadow Police Lt. Gary Fontaine told 22News that 33 year-old Eric Daniels was arrested hours later, with the help of Holyoke and state police.

Fontaine said that around 7:30, police received several 911 calls reporting that a woman had either been thrown from or jumped from a moving car, near 770 Converse Street. Officers who went to the area reported that the woman got back into the vehicle. They tried to pull the Cadillac Escalade over, but the driver would not stop. Police followed the SUV as the driver crossed into Springfield, where he crashed into a building.

This did not stop the driver, who continued onto Interstate 91 northbound, not stopping until he struck a snow bank at an apartment complex on Tokeneke Road in Holyoke. The driver got out of the car and ran from police.

A state police dog helped in the search, and Daniels was found sometime between 9:30 and 10:00 A.M.

Fontaine said that the woman suffered minor injuries in the incident, including scrapes and bruises. She is telling police that she had originally gotten into the car willingly, then jumped from the car, and then returned to the car.

Daniels will be arraigned Friday in Springfield District Court.
