Man denies role in stabbing at Celtics-Grizzlies game

A judge ordered him held on $50,000 bail

BOSTON (AP) — A 20-year-old man has denied allegations that he stabbed another man during a fight at an NBA game between the Boston Celtics and Memphis Grizzlies.

Brandon Jones of Braintree insisted he’s innocent while being arraigned on an assault and battery charge Friday in Boston Municipal Court. A judge ordered him held on $50,000 bail on the stabbing allegation, but revoked his bail in two unrelated cases.

Authorities say Jones stabbed the 21-year-old victim with a box cutter in an upper balcony at TD Garden in Boston Wednesday night as the Celtics beat the Grizzlies 95-92. Officials say the victim’s injuries are not life-threatening.

Prosecutors say video of the fight shows Jones was the aggressor. But Jones denied any role in the stabbing during the court arraignment.
