HOLYOKE, Mass. (WWLP) – A jobs program in Holyoke aims to benefit both employers and the young people they hire during the summer.
CareerPoint, the agency that trains people for jobs, brought young people and employers together.
20 year old Carlos Santiago told 22News, the job he held last summer did him a world of good, “It helped me, like, mature, get to work on time, responsibilities and stuff and take initiative.”
“We’re being involved in the program for the 3rd year and we’ve had five youths and after the program we hired two of them full time,” said Gary Rome, owner of Gary Rome Hyundai.
Holyoke companies hope to hire as many as 200 people in a variety of jobs this summer. The positions last over the course of six weeks.
