Three people stabbed in Springfield; One woman killed

This is the second deadly stabbing in less than 12 hours

SPRINGFIELD, Mass. (WWLP) – Springfield Police are investigating three stabbings that took place on Belmont Avenue, early Wednesday morning.

According to Springfield Police Sgt. John Delaney, officers first went to Fairfield Street around 12:50 a.m. and found a 27-year-old woman who had several stab wounds. Then, nine minutes later, officers found a 27-year-old man suffering from stab wounds on Belmont Avenue.

Both victims were taken to a local hospital, but are expected to survive their injuries. Sgt. Delaney said they told officers that they were stabbed at 356 Belmont Ave.

Sgt. Delaney said officers went to 356 Belmont Avenue, and found a 29-year-old woman stabbed in the chest and torso, and lying on her back on the floor. Officers started first aid procedures, and when EMTs got there, they determined the woman was dead.

The Major Crimes Unit under Detective Lieutenant Thomas Kennedy was notified and they are investigating the homicide. No arrests have been made yet, and the names of the victims have not been released at this time.

This is the second deadly stabbing in Springfield in less than 12 hours. A 26-year-old man died from his injuries after he was stabbed near 769 Worthington Street Tuesday evening.
