FALMOUTH, Mass. (AP) — The Coast Guard says it has freed a fishing boat that became trapped in ice in Woods Hole Passage on Cape Cod.
The four-person crew of the Capt. RM Chase notified the Coast Guard about 3 p.m. Saturday that the boat became lodged in ice as it was returning to New Bedford after a fishing trip. A Coast Guard team from Woods Hole that was breaking ice nearby responded, arriving about 30 minutes later.
The Coast Guard says that with the extreme temperatures, the Woods Hole team rescue was its second save in two days of a fishing boat stuck in ice.
