GREENFIELD, Mass. (WWLP) – The big problem right now for realtors is inventory; there just aren’t enough homes for sale. Many people are waiting until spring to make repairs and put their homes on the market.
However, it also means there is pent up demand because there are a lot of buyers that are ready to go and there aren’t many homes to choose from.
22News spoke with Massachusetts Association of Realtors President Corinne Fitzgerald. She said, “The January numbers here in Franklin County are up, which is kind of unique because the numbers across the state are down for January on average, so I think what your finding is that Franklin County has weathered the storm.”
Fitzgerald added that it’s a good time to put your home on the market earlier.
When it comes to who is buying, a new study found millennials are more likely to rent than to own their home, but it also found the majority don’t buy renters insurance. Many in the study attributed the lack of insurance to not having much of value to insure.
