24 year-old woman killed in Franklin County car crash

Victim identified as Malerie Kidder of Bernardston

BERNARDSTON, Mass. (WWLP) – A 24 year-old woman died Wednesday morning after her car struck a utility pole on Routes 5 & 10 in Bernardston.

Mary Carey, spokesperson for the Northwestern District Attorney’s Office identified the victim as Malerie Kidder of Bernardston.

Carey says that shortly after 7:00 A.M., Kidder was driving northbound on South Street (Routes 5 & 10) near the corner of Depot Road, when her Mazda crossed the yellow line and crashed into the utility pole. Kidder was brought to Baystate Franklin Medical Center in Greenfield, but did not survive.

Bernardston police, as well as a state police accident reconstruction team have been looking into the cause of the accident. If you witnessed the crash, you are asked to call Bernardston police at (413) 648-9208.
