SPRINGFIELD, Mass. (WWLP) – A man who was stabbed in the leg in Springfield, died at the hospital Monday night, and police are now investigating the death as the city’s fourth homicide of 2015.
According to Springfield Police Sgt. John Delaney, the victim of the stabbing on High Street is a 38 year-old man from Springfield. His name is not being released until his family has been notified.
Delaney said police were called to 56 High Street shortly after 9:00 Monday night. Inside the building, officers followed a trail of blood to an elevator and then to a stairwell, where they discovered the wounded victim.
Police administered first aid to the victim until EMTs arrived to take him to the hospital, where he died about an hour later.
