Dress for success: What to wear on an interview

CHICOPEE, Mass. (Mass Appeal) – What you wear to your next job interview might be more important than you think. Business and Career Coach Angela Lussier, from DoMakeBusiness.com, and Sally Rueli, director of Dress for Success in Springfield showed us what you should and shouldn’t wear on an interview.

Do’s for Men and Women
Do wear muted colors that complement your skin tone/hair color
Wash and iron your entire ensemble
Wear something you feel comfortable and confident in
Ask yourself, “Am I putting my best foot forward in this clothing?”
Express yourself through a small accessory or fun tie, but err on the conservative side

Don’ts for Women
Don’t wear big, distracting jewelry and accessories
Don’t wear too much makeup and skip the perfume
Don’t wear anything you would wear for a weekend party (low cut shirts, short skirts, stiletto heels, bright colors)

Don’ts for Men
Don’t skip the blazer/sport coat
Don’t wear sneakers/boots/old shoes
Don’t wear an ill-fitting suit (too big or too small)
