North Adams man sentenced for possession of child porn

Wade Galli pleaded to collecting child porn on the internet

SPRINGFIELD, Mass. (AP/WWLP) – A North Adams man whom prosecutors say collected child pornography on his computer, loitered around college dormitories with night vision goggles, and shot video at nude beaches has been sentenced to more than four years in prison.

U.S. Attorney Carmen Ortiz said 49-year-old Wade Galli was also sentenced Wednesday by U.S. District Judge Mark G. Mastroianni to 10 years of probation after he is released from prison. He pleaded guilty in September 2014 to one count of possession of child pornography.

Ortiz said on May 29, 2013, officers seized computer media containing image and video files with violent and sadomasochistic sexual assaults of young girls. Prosecutors described Galli’s collection of more than 200 pictures and 37 videos as “horrific.”

Galli admitted that he downloaded child pornography from the Internet. He also created some videos by filming nude girls at the beach.  Galli said he did so “whenever I had time” and filmed girls as young as 13 at beaches in Pittsfield, Mass. and Vermont.

United States Attorney Carmen M. Ortiz and Bruce M. Foucart, Special Agent in Charge of Homeland Security Investigations in Boston, made the announcement.  The case was investigated with the assistance of the Massachusetts State Police and the North Adams Police Department.  It is being prosecuted by Assistant U.S. Attorney Steven H. Breslow of Ortiz’s Springfield Branch Office.
