Chicopee declares plowing operations completed

Many side streets are snow-covered but passable

CHICOPEE, Mass. (WWLP) – What a difference a day without snow makes. Plow crews have made a lot of progress clearing roads in western Massachusetts.

The city of Chicopee issued a tweet thanking the 150 plows, both public and private, for their hard work clearing the streets. The city declared plowing operations completed.

22News cameras shot video of side streets that were still snow covered, but passable.

Alvina Brevard of Chicopee, who works in Worcester, said, “The streets in chicopee and holyoke are in mint condition in comparison to the streets in Worcester.”

Jeremiah Fitzgerald of Springfield said, “I got stuck for 45 minutes, a half hour one night because I was on a side road, and I couldn’t get through. And not a plow in sight.”

Chicopee posted the DPW number for residents to call if they have street clearing issues. The number is 594-3557.
