JOHNSON COUNTY, Kansas (KSHB) A terrifying night for one Kansas family ended in relief after their 5-month-old daughter was found safe.
The child been taken in their stolen car Monday.
Captain Wade Borchers with the Lenexa Police Department said a little after 6 p.m., officers were dispatched on the report of a stolen car with a baby inside.
Borchers said when officers arrived, they contacted the mother and father. The parents had been talking at the rear of their vehicle when it drove away, and told police they didn’t see anyone enter their vehicle.
“The reality is if you’re not really close to your car or inside your car, and your keys are in it, it’s very easy for someone to get in that driver’s seat and drive away without anyone seeing,” Borchers said.
