WEST SPRINGFIELD, Mass. (WWLP) – Not only is it the season for snow, but it’s the season for pot holes.
We see most of our pothole problems in March, when the weather can go from freezing to a thaw. That temperature difference causes the water in the cracks of the pavement to expand and contract, and the potholes get bigger.
This year, we’re already starting to get pothole complaints. 22News went to the rotary by the North End Bridge in West Springfield to see if drivers are frustrated with the conditions of the roads.
David Ciampi told 22News, “It’s been pretty bad for quite a while, including the sidewalks. The surfaces really have to be repaved. Of course it’s an economic issue, but it’s something that needs to be taken care of because its also a public safety issue.”
If you see or hit a pothole you’d like us to check out, you can email us at Reportit@WWLP.com, or follow the link to an online submission form.
