CHICOPEE, Mass (WWLP) – What do you say to a good, old fashioned undersea adventure called “Black Sea”?

Desperate men with nothing to lose risk their lives searching for a Nazi submarine filled with gold bullion. It’s been resting at the bottom of the “Black Sea” for more than 70 years.

Jude Law’s intense performance scrapes the barnacles off the rusting cliche’s. Law and his crew of rejects face more obstacles than merely being played for fools by forces beyond their control.

Can the familiar plot stay afloat long enough to go for the gold? It’s clear some of the characters couldn’t find their way out of a sunken tub. Unless you suffer from claustrophobia, you’ll appreciate how “Black Sea” puts on an absorbing show, keeping you at the edge of your seat.

Between the personality conflicts and the old sub springing leaks, the hard bitten crew live their gripping adventure to the hilt.

Just when you thought the old fashioned underwater adventure had become as obsolete as the western shoot ’em up, “Black Sea” renews your faith in recycling. That. plus Jude Law’s charismatic performance helps steer “Black Sea” into the safety net of 3 stars.

So strap on your water wings and take a 2 hour plunge into the pleasures of “Black Sea”.
