Water main break on College Highway in Southwick

MassDOT came in to salt the road

SOUTHWICK, Mass. (WWLP)- A water main broke and one lane was closed to traffic on Routes 10 & 202 Friday morning.

Robert Eak, a Dispatcher for the Southwick Police Department told 22News that a water main broke in the area of 467 College Highway around 4:30 a.m. Friday morning. That is right near the Southwick Town Hall.

Officers found a 100 yard stretch of the road covered in water and ice. The southbound lane was closed off to traffic as crews from the water department repaired the water main. MassDOT came in to salt the road that was quickly freezing up.

Eak said it could take several hours to make the repairs.
