Pedestrian struck, dragged by car in Chicopee accident

CHICOPEE, Mass. (WWLP) – Chicopee police are looking into what caused a Thursday night accident that caused serious injuries to a pedestrian.

According to Chicopee Police Officer Michael Wilk, police were called to Arnold Avenue shortly before midnight on a report of a man who was struck, dragged, and was still underneath a car.

The victim, a 35-year-old Chicopee resident, was brought to Baystate Medical Center. The man’s condition was not immediately available, but Wilk described the injuries as potentially deadly. The Chicopee Police Accident Reconstruction Team is still looking into what happened.

Police are looking for a man that was wearing a tan baseball hat, scarf, glasses and sneakers, around 35 years old, and walking around the Ferry Lane section of Chicopee, especially Old Field Road from the area of Dayton Street towards Arnold Avenue, between 11:00 p.m. and Midnight on February 5th.
