Fugitive sex offender arrested in Massachusetts

AMHERST, Mass. (WWLP) – Amherst Police arrested a fugitive from New York, Friday afternoon, after he was found in an apartment complex on Belchertown Road.

According to Amherst Police Lt. Ronald Young, police arrested 39-year-old Jose Dones of Schenectady, New York. Dones is wanted for by the State of New York for Failing to Register as a Sex Offender.

Dones’ extradition to New York will be decided by the courts. Lt. Young said Dones is being charged with Fugitive from Justice and is being held on $10,000 bail. He will be arraigned at the Eastern Hampshire District Court on February 9th.
