SALEM, Mass. (AP) — A Danvers woman who participated in the rape of a 14-year-old relative has been sentenced to up to 13 years in prison.

The Salem News (http://bit.ly/16ptz4S ) reports that Gaudy Asenjo was sentenced Thursday in Salem Superior Court after being found guilty last month of three counts of aggravated child rape for assaults.

The judge called the 35-year-old Asenjo’s acts a “horrific” betrayal of trust.

Prosecutors say she arranged and then participated in the February 2011 rapes with her then-boyfriend, who awaits trial.

Prosecutors described Asenjo as “a mother figure, a caretaker and a confidant” to the victim.

The defendant’s lawyer blamed the assaults on the boyfriend, alleging he beat Asenjo.

In a written statement, the now 18-year-old victim, who is attending college, said Asenjo destroyed her ability to trust people.
