A blood test can help determine if measles vaccinations given years ago are still effective.

RENTON, Wash. (KING) Missi Diamond isn’t sure she’s immune to measles, although she does remember getting a shot more than 40 years ago.

That’s why she came to the Any Lab Test Now location in Renton, Washington to get tested.

“Hearing about the measles outbreaks, I just wanted to make sure that I was still good on my immunizations from when I was a child,” she said.

Missi is in that critical age range, born between 1957 and 1971.

The immunizations back then weren’t as reliable as the current vaccine, which affords close to 100 percent protection.

If in doubt, a simple test can measure measles antibodies in your blood. You either have them or you don’t.
