SPRINGFIELD, Mass. (WWLP) – Protecting your personal data has become an entire branch of the cyber-security industry.
A panel of experts fielded questions from the public and law students Tuesday night at Western New England University in Springfield. They focused on the implications of data privacy and data security.
Springfield attorney Andrew Levchuk told 22News we’re storing so much of our personal information ‘in the cloud,’ out of our possession and out of our control, that it raises a host of issues related to keeping our data secure from sophisticated hackers.
“Well, it’s not just an issue for lawyers and technical people. Everyone, if you carry an iPhone, if you have a laptop computer, you have to learn to protect your data, and be careful online, and there’s plenty of places to go to do that. And I encourage people to do that,” said attorney Levchuk.
The panelists told 22News that Data Security is a growing field of employment in the third millennium.
The panel consisted of attorneys who specialize in digital and data issues, and representatives of the health care, financial and cyber crime industries.
