SALT LAKE CITY, Utah (KSL) A small dog gave Utah highway patrol troopers a big job Monday afternoon when it ran more than a mile on Salt Lake City’s Legacy Parkway, stopping traffic in both directions.
The dog’s owner took it for a walk on the west side of Legacy Parkway and let it off its leash, which is illegal. The dog then escaped through a fence and ran onto the freeway, according to Clint Thacker with the Davis County Animal Control.
It ran for about 40 minutes, crisscrossing across the two side of the highway, according to Utah Highway Patrol trooper Doug Moss.
Several drivers got out of their cars to try to help the dog, Moss said.
