Franklin County residents hurt in Route 2 rollover

LEOMINSTER, Mass. (WWLP) – Two Shelburne residents have been taken to the hospital after a rollover crash that briefly closed a section of Route 2 in central Massachusetts.

According to State Police Media Relations, at around 11:35 Tuesday morning, troopers discovered the 2012 Toyota Corolla on its roof in the median of Route 2 near the exit for Interstate 190 in Leominster. The driver of the car, 68 year-old Jim Fitzpatrick, and his passenger, 55 year-old Donna Fitzpatrick, were brought to Health Alliance Leominster Hospital.

State police say that it appears the victims will survive their injuries.

The eastbound side of Route 2 was closed for a short time as the car was removed.

Details on the cause of the crash have not been released at this time.
