Latest round of snow tough on local businesses

Many customers choose to stock up on items before a big storm

CHICOPEE, Mass. (WWLP) – The recent snow storm set some local businesses back Monday, and 22News spoke with some business owners about the effect the snow has on their customers.

Business owners turned out to be hard to find because many had a closed sign hanging up in their door since Sunday. There weren’t many people out in downtown Chicopee Monday as the wind howled and the snow swept by.

The Cabot Liquor Store was one of the few stores that were open during the snow storm, and the manager told 22News most people had come the day before to stock up before the storm.

Manish Patel said, “Business is really good the day before; everybody’s trying to load up thinking that they won’t get out for few days or whatever. So you know it definitely slows down on the snow day and it does affect it, but overall you know it kind of comes out even.”

Patel said it’s a part of doing business in New England, and the big football game on Sunday helped with sales.

Other businesses that were open in the area were some of the chain stores and restaurants.
