(NBC News) – An argument between horse riders and a pickup driver in Volusia County, Florida resulted in the truck driver killing a horse and seriously injuring the rider.
The 21-year-old suspect, Christopher Todd, has been charged with aggravated battery and animal cruelty.
The group of riders says that the altercation stemmed from an argument over the drivers speed and turned violent after one of the riders used a racial slur.
“It’s my fault because I called him a [expletive deleted], but still you don’t hit a horse with a person on it because you’re mad,” said the 911 caller, who was not identified.
