Back to normal in Monson after Tuesday’s storm

Town received among the area's highest snow totals

MONSON, Mass. (WWLP) – Despite getting more than a foot of snow, Monson schools were open Wednesday.

Longtime highway department surveyor John Morrell praised his clean up crews in this eastern Hampden County community. He said they did a good job keeping the town moving.

People in town told 22News they’re accustomed to a lot of snow, and this storm wasn’t too bad for them.

“I caught up on some TV shows that I had been dying to see,” Denise Finnie of Monson said. “My husband snow plowed the driveway, fed the birds and we waited it out.”

Finnie felt fortunate to be in Monson and not Scituate where she was raised. The eastern Massachusetts shore town received an estimated three feet of snow, and some homes there were damaged due to coastal flooding.
