PHOENIX (WWLP) – 22News was at Media Day Tuesday; a day that many fans said was “their Super Bowl.” The event provides fans a chance get to see the stars of the Patriots in person and hear how they’re preparing for the big game.
Many of the fans there didn’t have tickets to the game. They all sat in the stands at the US Airways Center in Phoenix. 22News was on the ground floor; rubbing shoulders with the Patriots stars. We interviewed Danny Amendola and heard from Coach Bill Belichick, Tom Brady and Vince Wilfork.
One highlight: When asked what his favorite stuffed animal was, Belichick said “a puppet you can put your hand in.” He then asked the same question back to the person who asked it! Funny!
It’s definitely a fun, festive atmosphere but the players said they are certainly concentrated on preparing for the Super Bowl.
22News interviewed Patriots Wide Receiver Danny Amendola, this is his first Super Bowl. We asked how the fans impacted his performance.
Amendola said, “It’s going to be fun. I mean it’s going to be jumping in the stadium. It’s going to be alive, so I really embrace that, really, we’ve all played in big games, I haven’t been in the Super Bowl, but I’ve played in big games before, you know you just do your job and get it done.”
