Greenfield convenience store robbed at knifepoint

Officer was involved in accident during search for suspect

GREENFIELD, Mass. (WWLP) – Greenfield police are searching for a suspect in an afternoon knifepoint robbery at a convenience store.

Greenfield Police Chief Robert Haigh told 22News that a man in a gray hooded sweatshirt stole cash from the Valley Mart store on Mill Street at around 3:30 P.M.

Police were at the store within minutes, and searched the area with a dog. Officers blocked-off the area and made a perimeter.

Haigh said that an officer’s cruiser that was set up for a checkpoint on Armoury Street was hit by a car. The officer is fine, according to the chief. The driver of the car was also unhurt.
