Holyoke police investigate homicide on Race Street

Police aren't releasing the name of the victim

HOLYOKE, Mass. (WWLP) – Holyoke Police are investigating a homicide in front of 268 Race Street, which is the Caribbean Club.

Holyoke Police Sergeant Larry Cournoyer told 22News police were called to that area for “shots fired” around 1 o’clock Sunday morning. When police got there, they found a 51-year-old Hispanic man lying on the ground unconscious, suffering from a gunshot wound to his chest.

The victim was taken to Baystate Medical Center in Springfield where he later died.
The Holyoke Police Criminal Investigations Bureau and the Massachusetts State Police Detective Unit assigned to Hampden County District Attorney Anthony Gulluni’s Office are conducting the investigation.

Police aren’t releasing the name of the victim, but told 22News he was a 51-year-old man from Holyoke.

As of right now, authorities haven’t linked the homicide to the Caribbean Club. They also haven’t said whether they have any suspects.
