Model train show held at the Big E

Model train showcase continues into Sunday

WEST SPRINGFIELD, Mass. (WWLP) – All the bells and whistles were in good working order at the Big E for the Amherst Railway Society model train show.

Model train enthusiasts from all over New England came to lose themselves in a hobby they’ve enjoyed since childhood. Chip Faulter came all the way from Maine with his son Ben.

“I’ve been coming to this show since about 1994,” said Chip.

Ben said, “I’ve been to the show a few times when I was little, and now just trying to prepare my own home layout.”

Trains, trains and still more model trains to take these fans back to the day when they received their first train set for Christmas, the way Luis Vasquez of Springfield gave his son for the holidays.

Vasquez said, “He got a couple of sets for Christmas. We just came out to start up another train set.”

If you had meant to take your children on Saturday, but the need to shovel snow made you change your plans, The Amherst Railway society model trains will be on track all day Sunday at the Big E grounds in West Springfield.
